An ancient gate from the 1700s separates the lively Via Nazionale, one of the main Florentine streets, and the majestic entrance to theAtlantic Palace Florence.
There are not many hotels in medieval Florence that can boast a hall of this size.
If you are here on a business trip, it will be of great prestige for you to receive a potential client or business partner here.
If, on the other hand, you want to read a book, perhaps on the history of the Renaissance in a historic setting, while sipping a glass of Chianti, then you just have to choose one of the soft sofas in the Atlantic Hall and order your glass from one of the guys from the Bar.
On the ground floor, you can admire a huge Wedgwood-style ceramic vase, 4 meters high by 1,5 meters in diameter, weighing about 150 kg.
The work was created in 1898 by the Premiata Salvini Artistic Ceramics Factory in Florence, in commemoration of the fifty years of the Albertine statute. An undertaking, almost a challenge to the state of the art of the time.
After the closure of the factory, the vase was purchased by the owners of the Hotel Nuovo Atlantico - today Machiavelli Palace - but, during transport, it was irreparably damaged.
It was thus abandoned in a courtyard, exposed to the inclemency of atmospheric agents and then forgotten.
In 1985, finally, it was entrusted to the Studio S. Spirito in Florence, for a complex restoration that lasted over two months.
